I am going to do a simple breastpump review based on the breastpumps I've used before. Mad urge to do it because wanted more people to know which is the best and it's definitely worthwhile to get the good ones if mummies are intending to breastfeed for long.
SO!
These are the pumps I've purchased before;
1st - Pigeon Manual Breast Pump
2nd - Avent ISIS iQ Uno Electric Breast Pump
3rd - Medela FreeStyle Breast Pump
4th - Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump
Here goes the review =D
Pigeon Manual Pump
Got it when I'm only 10 weeks pregnant. Did not even get to use it because I've heard too many stories of mummies who almost broke their hand using manual pumps =X
Avent ISIS iQ Uno Electric Breast Pump
Got it a month before I was due and the lady at kiddy palace intro me this over Medela swing because she says that it was better as it could be converted to a manual pump. Sadly, my milk supply then was just a little over enough for Reverie then and I thought the pump was too lousy =X
But of course, compared to the high-end Medela ones, the suction is really horrible.

Medela FreeStyle Breast Pump.
Was so amazed with the functions of the pump when I saw it on Medela's webbie. Timer, hands-free, rechargeble battery, light weight motor and etc. Decided to get an US set because it's way cheaper than local set. (US Set - $520, Local set - $899, depends on package and promotions)
It indeed express more milk for me than my Avent's pump. Then I started to see one of my followers in twitter telling me that Freestyle have bad suction, and Medela Pump In Style Advanced is the best. Tried to not think so much as I've already gotten it and I'm quite pleased with it.
Pros of Freestyle:
- Light-weight Motor
- Rechargeble battery which last up to 3 hours (I charge only once in a week or so?)
- Timer and memory feature
- Medela's 2 phase expression feature.
Cons of Freestyle
- Absolutely nothing!
BUT! When compared with Medela's Pump In Style Advanced,
- It has more parts to wash.
- Suction is weak? Because Medela PISA's suction is mad powerful even it's only half knot turned!
Ohwell. It died on me last week. Read reviews on Amazon.com and alot of people complained about it's weak motor and suction. Alot of people had their motor replaced. But I'm suay because I wanted to be a cheapo that's why buy US set then no warranty! Lanlan. Get the legendary strong Medela's Pump In Style Advanced the next day!

Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump
At one look you can immediately list out all the Cons.
- Huge motor
- Attached with a lame backpack
- Don't have rechargeble battery like Freestyle. Have to use powerpoint.
- Tubings seperate into 2 pieces unlike Freestyle it's all in one.
BUT THEN!
THE SUCTION AND POWER OF THIS PUMP IS HORRIFICALLY WONDERFUL!
Dead serious!
I always switch on suction 9 (max suction strength) for freestyle and it feel a little painful in the beginning when I pump. But when PISA, I just turn on the minimum suction and it's mad strong already! But that's only for phase 1. For phase 2 of expressing I turn the suction knot slightly in the half of my PISA and it's pretty painful due to the strength!
After thinking much, I believe that a breastpump main job is to empty our breast from milk therefore we can feed to our little ones. So I think I can minus off all the cons of PISA because it does its main job the best compared to the rest =D (Rhymes siol, LOL!)
As for the backpack, the pump's motor unit is removable from it but it's abit ugly with the velcro all over it. We can choose the backpack version, the shoulder bag version or the metro bag version. Wanted to get the shoulder or metro bag version because I find the backpack mad orbit cha cha.
But boy! I'm mad glad I got the backpack version instead due to SG's supplier only have this model! It's abit on the heavier side so I think it's better for our shoulder to share the weight of it. One of my shoulder will most likely break if I'm using the other 2 versions =X
And end up the backpack look wayyyyyyyyyyy nicer than it's picture in the box! I believed they have upgraded it because it's a different design. Find it quite nice =D
I've learnt my lesson from Freestyle and decided to get a local set from Mothercare. They are now having a 15% promotion for Medela so I got my Medela PISA for $64x. Usual Price is $754.
I'm writing this review based on my experience and I'm not asking everyone who needs to pump splurge on high end pumps like Freestyle or PISA. I wanted to buy good double pump because I felt awkward having to use my work time to pump therefore I think it's better to make it quick, fast and efficient.
So mummies who are intending to pump for long term can get good pumps which can last you for quite sometime instead of switching here and there just because you wanted to save money. End up wasting more money like I did T^T
More reviews about breastpumps could be view at Amazon.com once you've typed in the product name. I find it an awesome webpage although I didn't purchase things from there because reviews are mad useful when you wanted to buy something, especially expensive items like this.
So yeah, here you go! My reviews on the breast pumps I've used before!
Hope the points that I've mentioned helps for mummies who intend to choose among these pumps!
Toodles!
Callie
P/S >> Ohyeah! Forget to mention, no matter how expensive or how high tech it is, our best breast pump is our little honey pie! For me, she's my Baby Queencess, Reverie Glynisebella =DD
