Baby Queencess only willing to drink from bottles when it's gripe water with water and some glucolin. Given in very small amount coz have to let her be more familiarised with bottles. So I can conclude that she knows very well how to latch on to bottles but she just don't wanna drink milk from it
Maybe she want fresh one =X
Tried back Mam's bottle for her and she's okay with it
Bought it back in my neighbour's baby shop in M'sia. So far I find it the best in various aspects. Anti-colic system, BPA free, uber soft teats and most importantly, its uber chio! HAHA! Wanna get an extra one but Mothercare doesn't have this design. Same type of system and color but the prints is spiral thingy one.
Also Mam's. Bought in Mothercare but switch the training spout to normal Mam's teats.
So yeah, Mam definitely have the chio-est bottles around HAHAHA!
Tried TommeeTippee's bottles as well
Baby Queencess accepted the bottle today when she tasted the blackcurrant glucolin. But the teat is like rock hard compared to Mam's. Maybe that explains why she prefers Mam.
I have to use softer teats as it's closer to mother's breast and she's more likely & willing to accept it. So far the once I've seen and felt is Mam, Pigeon & NUK's latex (But latex got this wierd smell so I don't really like it ._.). Have LOADS (Like 11, big and small) Avent bottles. Find the teats hard also. Got it from gift sets from friends, neighbours and my Avent's sterilliser.
I believe the first few days when I start work she confirm, chop chop, guarantee will slaughter pigs like mad. But at least I can be assured now that she knows how to suckle from the bottle, just that she tikilan don't want to -_-!
Hopefully she will be co-operative during the days I'm back to work =D
Have so much to say so I suppose this shall be another whiny and wordy entry.
Firstly, today is the 12 weeks since I have my baby doll with me! <33 Seeing her grow is like the happiest thing ever. Love ya Reverie baby =DD
So there is a week and a half left for me to return back to work. So basically the things I have to prepare for myself is 2 weeks supply of frozen BM for emergency purposes, having Reverie prepared for bottle, my pump with its battery charged, having my baby doll prepared for bottle, buy all the things needed for infant care, having yueyue prepared for bottle, getting a list of instructions ready for her infant care teachers and did I mentioned I needa get Reverie to be prepared for bottle?
So yeah, BOTTLES.
I might have made more milk than my own mum even though she have taken care of the 3 of us (I love making bottles of milk for my kiddos during nap and teabreak time, I hate washing them thou LOL!). But never have I imagined that it's such a difficult thing for my own girl to take it.
Why? I pretty much insist on not giving Reviie bottles until she's pro in latching on. I have a good reason for that. When she's still few days/weeks old, she always struggle to latch on to my breast. Even thou she latches on, she will still let go and take good long time to find it back, machiam like wanna play wrestling with me (So imagine my pain when my stitches pain are still there and all -.-).
I've remembered Darrielle's mummy, Amulet, told me when I first saw her in the centre I'm working in saying that Darrielle has nipple confusion last time, therefore, have problem latching on and all. Makes me kind of afraid of that as it will greatly affects milk supply.
So around 1 month of total breastfeeding, my mum and Laogong seeing me all tired, decided to buy formula for her to feed her at night, letting me rest more. She latches onto the bottle with no issues whatsoever. So on and off, if I'm uber tired, my mum or Laogong will feed her. And that's less than 5 bottles a month due to my kiasu-ness of decreasing in milk supply.
After sometime, when Reviie's routine is pretty much established and me myself getting more use to waking up at night, I begin to feed herself without my mum and Laogong's help. So one fine day, during my Malaysia trip, I decided to dye my hair red. I prepare a bottle of formula for her just in case she's hungry and I couldn't feed her.
So the time comes when she's obviously hungry, Laogong attempted to feed her the bottle. Wahsai, whole salon almost kena demolished by her screams. Was pretty suprised. She sort of gives up and fall asleep in Laogong's arms without drinking any milk. Moments later, I believe she couldn't tahan the hunger and begin to whine for her milk. This time she gave in and drank the whole bottle of 120ml of formula.
After 1 exact week, we decided that it's time to get her ready for her bottles. So I begin to express a bottle of breastmilk in the morning after her feeding. usually gets around 120 to 180ml. So according to experts and books, all says that I'm not allowed to give her the bottle in the early stage as she associates me with feedings -.-. I let my sister-in-law to do the honors. And she screamed like there's no tomorrow! In fact, she turned blue, and of course we stopped the bottle immediately and try again moments later. Tried to starve her a little as it works in the salon.
But she still refusing it. Her cries are like so heart piercing. I actually cried along while I'm in my room and SIL is in the living room trying to give her the bottle.
We tried all methods. Put the teat on her lips waiting for her to latch on and all. Tried all sorts of bottles that might work.
MAM - She's okay with this bottle all along until that one fine day she decided that mummy's boobies is better -.-
TommeTippee - Suckle for 20ml on her first try and then refuses it until now.
NUK Latex - Accordingly to everyone, this is supposed to be the best but it's not working for me.
Pigeon - Needa say more? Refuse it too.
Got once she's just too hungry and tired from all the crying that when I'm about to give up, I took her over and tried to give her the bottle myself for the last time before I latch her on . Miracly, she didn't struggle and just drank 60ml from the bottle.
But I did not stay happy for long coz the very next day, the whole thing start over again, just that this time, she didn't gave in in the end. Until today -.-
I suppose I have to leave it to Laogong when I start working? I will be starting work on the 24th of May. Baby doll will only go in infant care on the 1st of June. So Laogong have to take care of her for a week. By then she really tak boleh tahan, she also have to drink ._. See no evil, hear no evil.
Just pray that Laogong don't bring her down when she's crying while I'm having lessons -.- LOL!
So for the first week, I'll go easy on Laogong. I'll start work at 9.15am to 6.15am.
Normally she will wake up at 7 plus. Feed and pump milk. Prepare for my ding dongs. 9.10 feed her the last time and I go for work (YMCA same block as me LOL).
During children's nap time / my breaktime, I will go back to latch her once. Then when it's near 3, will pump bm once at my workplace. Not sure if I can pump another time as I have to take care of my kiddos. Stress. Will talk to Ms. Soh about it once I return back to work.
So when it's time for her to enter infant care, maybe I kiasu about ride bicyle and give her fresh bm? HAHA! Near also =X
But as much as I'm stress over with all this shytty bottle training thing, never once I've regretted on total breastfeeding and latching her on. It's for her own good.
There's once I'm latching Reviie in CWP's nursing room and this mummy whose baby is a week older than Reviie saying that I should pump out my milk and feed her so that I know how much she drinks.
And just so happens that the day before, I read that the good part about latching on is that you don't have to bother about figures. And of course, total pumping will result in insufficient milk supply and all. As the pump only expresses about 70% of what the baby drink/needed.
Did not bother to talk much, just smile smile and all to that mummy. This is what happens when you assume too much. Making an (ASS) out of (U) and (ME) = assume =X
So it's always a good thing to get our facts right. By online reading of information or by books. Always read from reliable source before doing it if you have your doubts. Not everything people says are right. Like the drinking water thing HAHAHAH =X
For the bottle part, I'm sort of washing my hands off it coz she only cries harder when I'm the one feeding her. Let her dad settle it.
