![]() Finally! Finally! Finally! Finally what? Finally I'm bloggin' lah! LOL =X Really can't find anything to blog about but this idea struck me while I was browsing MummySG's forum and saw this problems tonnes of mummy faced! Have you encounter your seniors or elderly people (Those aunties on streets / your parents / Parent-in-laws / relatives / or whoever!) told you that you should do this this this to your baby and insisted that you should do it because they did it during their time? Or maybe they think that you are too young (or maybe noob =X) so you should follow all their instructions? So here's what I've encountered. FEEDING WATER TO BABIES! Those who are doing some research before breastfeeding or have heard about it should know that we need not feed our babies water as they can have all the fluid they need through our breast milk. So I pretty much insisted upon it since the very first day I have Reverie. As you know from my labor post, MIL & my parents came and ask why never feed formula coz I have no milk. When I talk about colostrum then they say need to feed water next. That point of time I told them its not required and also because I don't want Reverie to have nipple confusion (later reject my nehneh I sure faint -.-) After naggings by my mum and aunt (My aunt is friggin' fierce and firm that kind. But I love her alot coz she always bring me for shopping & she pays for everything =X), I pretended to feed Reverie water during the once or twice we've met and my mum just sneak some water to feed her while I'm not looking. Have to thank god coz she definitely have no nipple confusion =X So 3 days before, I dug out my book of "What to expect, the first year" by Heidi Murkoff (Definitely the best-est child care book ever) and chance upon this question being answered by the author. "I'm wondering if I should give our daughter bottles of water instead of nursing her so often"(Sorry if there are any typos as I've typed it out myself by referring to my book.) So yeah, I almost choked myself to death while reading the line in bold! And immediately called my mum and tried to explain to her why we shouldn't feed my girl water but fail in terms of explaination because I dont know how to describe in Chinese (any help?) LOL! (But she stop bothering me to feed her water already!) So now you people see. Can listen to everything lao ren jia says? I seriously doubt so. Perhaps most of them but definitely not ALL of them! Use some common sense & some advance knowledge we have pl0x! I really recommend Heidi Murkoff's books to all pregnant ladies and mummies! They held practical advises and sometimes the answers are pretty humourous, making it fun to read! Pregnancy guide - What to expect, when you're expecting Babies' first year guide - What to expect, the first year Toddler's guide - What to expect, the toddler year (Haven't got it yet so not sure how good is it) Anyway, thanks friends and readers for "pestering" me to blog as it motivates me much more. But currently I had no idea what to blog about. Ideas please? I know friends wanna have more entries about Reverie but what kind of entries? Details pl0x! Before I end this entry,
To everyone, Happy April Fool's & Good Friday! Hope everyone have a happy weekend ahead! Toodles! Callie

![]() Reverie's Baby Shower/ Full-Month Celebration Dear friends, Reviie's full month celebration will be on 14th March, Sunday, 12 pm - 2 pm at my Laogong's place, Woodlands! Those who are coming please sms me at 9368 5515 for exact address as I think it's not really appropriate to post it out here (Later people come burn my place =X) Inviting all friends, be it mummies, primary, secondary, nanyang, 56, maple friends! I'm not inviting friends personally because of 2 reasons. 1. Laogong & I are busy with our little mushroom and we really don't have the energy to crack our brains to remember who to invite. 2. The bad wedding invitation experience. Some last minute gave me lame pork excuse and didn't came in the end -.- So those who actually see this notice and didn't come please don't give me shyt later on like "Wah you good never invite me" because I'm gonna be really pissed! But I do really invite really good friends who I knew would definitely come and celebrate Baby Reverie's birth with us =D But please, once again, pardon me if you feel offended if I didn't invite you personally (kindly refer to reason 1 =X) I might sound unsincere inviting friends to Reviie's baby shower but please refer back to reason 1 and 2 again, LOL! Anyway, remember to sms me if you are coming! Loveee* Callie

![]() So so so. Being a mummy for 2 weeks plus now (flashes wide smile), I'm gonna share my 2 weeks worth of views on breastfeeding, motherhood & books! I'm not sure how exactly you name this kind of person but I'm the kind who would read alot into certain stuff before/while doing it. For example, before I even got Sushi, Mochi & Lele, I read forums about hammies & maltese. Even when Kinokuniya to purchase books about them, just to know more so as to take better care of them. So before I got pregnant, I chance upon this book fair and got my very first pregnancy book! Vivid pictures pl0x! Mad scary with real life delivery pictures and the woman is like in mortal agony -_-! Then I got a second pregnancy book & a pre-natal education book at Kinokuniya while I'm trying to concieve. During that period of time I'm like holding that pre-natal book frequently to class and friends are like giving me wierd "wah-you-this-age-want-baby-ah" look. Just happen that one of the modules I'm going through that time talks about pre-natal education, makes me extra alert in class! During my pregnancy, got the ultimate pregnancy guidebook "What to expect when you are expecting". Like what the cover says "The American Pregnancy Bible" and indeed it is! Almost all questions were being answered and I love it to bits. So it's being greatly recommended by me! Then later on, months before delivery I got the book from the same author, "What to expect, the first year". Pretty good I think, filled with tips and almost everything you would encounter about handling newborns and etc. More interested in the medical and health part as I'm friggin' yaya because I think I can handle Reviie with my pathetic experience working in infant care *cough* (So far so good =X) So around 7th month of pregnancy, Amulet enrolled her girl, Darrielle, into the childcare I'm teaching in and I learnt a great deal from her! Have long heard about breastmilk doesn't come in before day 3 but there is no need to feed them on formula but I'm not sure how all that works and she sort of briefly explained it to me. Chanced upon Sherlyn's blog next and she blogged a loooong post about breastfeeding and how she insist on not feeding her girl formula milk despite the nurse saying that Kayla can't be discharged if she haven't pass her first urine and etc. That post really inspire me to breastfeed even more even thou' I've already made up my mind to breastfeed Reviie! Before even started to breastfeed, I've already encounter problems. I'm going back to work when Reviie is around 3 months, I'm worried about being able to keep up with my supply, expressing & storing breastmilk and etc. So once again, decided to go to the "holy place", Kinokuniya to purchase a book about breastfeeding! & it really save my life! When my Mother-in-law and parents visited me, my MIL are like "you now no milk" & "she look very hungry!". I tried to explain to them about colostrum but my MIL was unconvinced. My face were being saved by the lactation consultant who came and visit shortly. LC: Breastfeed or formula? Me: Breastfeeding LC: Mixed with formula? Me: Nope, total breastfeeding LC: Very good! Me: (Immediately the yaya face come out to show my MIL =X) Then she brief the whole lot of us about colostrum and how precious it is, not that I'm not aware but just make sure my MIL knows about it and stop asking me to feed her formula! My breastfeeding path is smooth so far but not with obstacles. Reviie didn't latch on the moment she's delivered as she's busy playing with her tongue. When she's sent to me after being cleaned up and her APGAR test, she finally latch onto my breast but was taken away by the nurse in 10 minutes as she couldn't regulate her temperature well and have to return to the warmer. The first few days of breastfeeding was pretty hard as - the first suction is verrrrrrrrrrrry painful! Always grab onto Laogong's hand when she latches on and try to stop myself from screaming =X - breastfeeding helps our uterus to contracts faster, it's very painful considering the fact that I've never experienced real hard core contractions before. - I have to sit in a uber upright position with my painful stitches -.- Really hell when I'm back at home without the hospital's auto-reclining bed! - have to wake up every 3-4 hours to feed her myself with the stitches' pain. - experienced engorgement and had fever that simply doesn't go away until the 3rd day. I can jolly well skipped all these shyt if I were feeding Reviie formula. But I know the advantages of breastfeeding and definitely see it myself. My mum didn't breastfeed me and my brothers due to insufficent supply. My MIL breastfeed my Laogong till he's 4. Difference? I think it's pretty obvious. The 3 years that Laogong & I are together, never once he got sick himself unless I pass it to him for 1 or 2 times (with kissings it's hard not to pass the virus what =X). And at the same time, I myself got sick numerous times -_- So now, no matter how tough, I will & must breastfeed Reviie, at least, to the minimum months of 6. If it's possible & my supply permits me, I'm gonna try for longer periods. Hopefully can break Laogong's record, LOL! So far I'm okay with breastfeeding. And I really have to give special thanks to Sherlyn who patiently replied and adviced to my questions regarding them! And also my cousin Yenny who's always giving me advice on breastfeeding too. Shall end my looooooong post then. Happy weekends ahead! Toodles! Callie =D

![]() Reverie's Arrival! I'm feeling much better now without stitches wound pain, fever & nua-ness therefore, I'm here bloggin' about Reviie's birth process! So here goes! As I've mentioned before, being a super bo liao person, I ask my mum help "count" when is the perfect date after Reviie's full term to induce her if possible. So mum get help from her friend who's studying all these ding dongs and got the date 17/02/2010 & 26/02/2010. The birth count of 17/02/2010 & 26/02/2010 says that person born on this date is this and that blah blah blah which I've forgotten. But of course have her strength & weaknesses. Of course we understand that fortune telling's stuff can only be believed to a certain extend =D So when Dr. Ang says "I'm gonna deliver very soon", I requested to be induce a week later (17th Feb, exactly 37 weeks, full term) if I've not delivered by then. He gave the green light and request me to visit him at his clinic on 17th Feb to check on me for the last time before induction. On 17th Feb, woke up early in the morning despite my appointment is on 4pm. Coz I doubt within such short hours (4pm-12am) I can deliver Reviie. So, as usual, I decided to go Dr. Ang's clinic at 10am xD After my usual morning session of BabyPlus, Laogong & I reached Dr. Ang's clinic at 10am and there is already alooooooot of people -_- But my turn came pretty quickly. Then was checked for dilation, 3cm. After checkup, when for our breakfast at mac and we slowly "shake" and take our time by taking MRT to Novena =D On the way keep feeling regular contractions for the first time! Some was pretty painful that people in MRT keep giving me the "Wah-this-one-going-to-deliver-on-mrt-got-good-show" look -_-! From Sembawang to Novena ~ Laogong with my hospital barang =X Went to shop for awhile at United Square at 12pm before admitting into Thomson Medical Centre. Bought Archie comics to read just in case I'm bored! Reached TMC around 1pm & did my admission thingy ~ My hospital card. They call me MDM loh! What the fish, LOL! Ling Callie somemore -.-! CALLIE LING LAH DEH! =X After done with admission the lady brought me to observation ward, changed into hospital gown and all. The nurse help me insert this liquid for passing motion. It may sound gross but IT'S LIKE THE ULTIMATE SHIOKNESS LAH! The shyt just come out sliding like that! No hard poos or anything! LOL =X ![]() Silly Laogong =X Idiotic me, LOL -_- Strapped on CTG next to monitor contractions & fetal heartbeat =D See my chickenpox scar since 4 just above the black strap! (Mad lame =X) Dr. Ang came at 3pm plus to break my waters. The thing that was used is like a looooooooong spatula-like-thingy at 30cm or longer inserted at your "that place". Laogong & I see already almost fainted -.-! When Dr. Ang's attempting to break it, it's abit uncomfortable but not painful, LUCKY! Water gushed out and continue to slowly flow out over the next few hours . . . And I must say my gynae know my pattern very well, without even me trying to tahan the contraction pain, he ask the nurse to have me wheeled into the labor ward and have the anaesthetist inject the epidural for me. Initially I'm like "WTF so fast meh! Read on forum when never feel contraction pain inject epidural will pain until die" So I'm so worried about the injection pain as I've always thought the needle is pretty big ._. Told the anaesthetist don't let me see the needle and he keep reminding me to not move a trillion of times. I was so so afraid that I would jump the moment the needle was inserted behind my spine! I keep humming nursery rhymes to distract myself and bite my hand until like what like that -_- End up it's only a tiny pinch feeling and it's done before I knew it. -_______-! Checked with nurse at 3.30pm and she says that I will be delivering at around 9pm in the evening. ![]() Was then put on drips and strapped on CTG once again. After quite sometime, felt the side-effects of epidural, shivering, and the sicko me finds it pretty shiok -_-! Laogong & I attempt to sleep while waiting for my cervix to dilate completely but I failed miserably. The nurses are checking my contractions frequently. And I remember I heard next door's labor ward, ppl are going "推推推!" for 2 times and there is baby crying already! During the time of waiting (after failing to sleep), was joking around with Laogong and asking him to take pictures around the ward and TWEETING/PLURKING! xD The nurse checked with us if our baby is boy or girl before preparing these things. I told her "girl" before turning to Laogong and mumble "unless a magical penis pop up later" LOL! At around 6.45pm, felt contractions coming even thou I'm on epidural. Laogong & I figured that even thou it's "tahan-able", I better have the nurse increases the dosage before I scream like one mad cow even before I started pushing. Dosage increased, check for dilation and found out that I'm 9cm dilated already! Laogong & I are like mad happy =D Slowly, whenever there is contractions, I don't feel pain but a mad urge to shyt. Understand from the nurse that it's because Reviie is pressing against my rectum therefore there is this feeling. Lucky it last for awhile & would go away if not I will . . . (It never happens so I dunno what I will do, LOL) Now's the part! At 8pm, Dr. Ang came in and everything became so fast and blurry. Laogong was asked to switched off the TV and the nurse was hurrying preparing all the delivery thingy. Dr. Ang then ask me how much Medisave I have and all. I told him we have enough for the deduction. Realised why he asked that soon after he holds the vacuum in his hand. I'm like "huh? why use vacuum?" and he says that my epidural is finishing soon, faster deliver if not top up have to add additional 200 bucks cash. (My gynae is known for his cheap package, always help patient to save money & superb C-sect skills) So when everything is in ready position, the midwife, Dr. Ang & Laogong all ask me to push and I really push like one mad cow! First push done, the next contraction came after quite sometime and Dr. Ang was like "why no contractions?" -_-! And at the second push, I felt something (no pain, really =X) slippery and huge came out of my "that place" and Reviie was placed infront of me! First impression of Reviie was "WAH! Double eyelid so thick!" even thou she's wheh wheh wheh-ing with her eyes closed! Laogong was like "Laopo, chu lai le!" Dr. Ang then let Laogong cut Reviie's umbilical cord and he proceed to stitch me up while the nurse carry Reviie away for weighting, APGAR test & all. The nurse ask Laogong to follow him and I was left there being stitch up and SUDDENLY, I FELT PAIN! TERRIBLE PAIN! UNTIL I KEEP SQUIRMMING ON THE DELIVERY BED! Dr. Ang was assurring me he's gonna finish it very soon. He says "Okay very fast it's gonna be done in 5 minutes. Nonono, 2 minutes" And to my horror, I saw the "thing" that stitches me up! A curved fish-hooked lookalike needle! MAD SCARY! The nurse seeing that I'm in pain, offered me laughing gas which I find totally no use ._. I mean, after using the ultimate pain killer, will this kind of minor itsy bitsy pain killer takes effect? But I still breathe from it like nobody's business because of the friggin' pain -_- When the stitching is done (feels like trillion of years to me), Dr. Ang left and the midwife when and take a look at the baby outside and I'm left alone. I keep mumbling things like "Okay Cal guai ah~ bu tong bu tong ah" when I'm painful like hell -_-! Laogong then happily "hopped" in with camera and showed me pictures of Reviie! Laogong say the nurses outside was saying Reviie very small. Then the other nurse say "look at the daddy you know liao" -_- (But her Laobu very dua jiak leh!) Reviie was brought in after awhile & I tried breastfeeding for the first time. She didn't latches on because she was busy playing with her tongue, sticking it in and out! Mad adorableeee xD Before cleaning up. Shag to the max face! LOL Was requested to move my butt from the delivery bed to another bed that will be tranferring me to my ward. So painful because of the stitches! The delivery bed, bloody! Wheeled to my ward and on the way, Reviie was being placed into the nursery and was informed by the nurses that we can see her in around 2/3 hours time after she's being cleaned up. So there! End of my labor story althou' I can still really continue whining about my later hospital stay! It's mostly about the stitches pain thou, LOL! Once again, must really thank all friends again who congratulate us! Dearest Reverie,Shall end this post with some pictures during the hospital stay & at home! Not much thou. After she's being cleaned up! First time latches on! =D Sleep until abit not happy look, LOL! Her "ID Card" So un-ladylike =X Same picture as the previous post =D Eyes half-closed =X Alright then, shall end my uber whiny & long post here! Remember to tag! =D Toodles! Callie
